ROBOT COMPANIONS AND LEGO ENGINEERING WORKSHOP FIFTH SESSION: BUILDING A ROBOT TO PLAY THE CARD GAME UNO
Monday, July 20th, 2015
There was only one team during the fifth workshop session, and the goal was to build a robot that could play a variation of the card game called UNO. The game had cards labeled with numbers 1 to 5 and the participants had to built a robot that utilized the touch button. When the button was pressed it displayed a random number between 1 to 5 on the robot’s screen. This way the robot could imitate dropping a card and act as an additional player in the game.
The activity’s program involved generating a random numbers, making sounds, and generating printed numbers on the LEGO EV3 screen.
Once the robot was built, we played one game together with the robot, and later Barney, the social robot companion, used the LEGO EV3 robot to join us using its mechanical arm.
